Nassau, Bahamas: The Blue Lagoon

18010716_10212488771672300_654775164720340522_nI’ve always known that Bahamas is a wonderful place but seeing and experiencing it in person is a whole different story. It wasn’t just wonderful to the sight but it also gave me a lot of memorable experiences that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

One of the highlights of my recent Bahamas trip was visiting the Blue Lagoon. Known as the ‘Home of the Dolphin Encounters’, the blue lagoon is a just 30 minute boat ride away from the port of Nassau, Bahamas.

If you search online, it is one of the top most places to visit in Nassau. Actually, that’s how we discovered it. We didn’t know what to do on that day. We had to ask help from the always helpful, Siri, and here’s how our day went:

By 8 AM, we were out of our room and ready for breakfast. Then, we headed to Nassau’s port for the boat ride to pristine private island. Upon arriving there, we had to go to the Dolphin Encounter’s office to purchase our  tickets.

The boat didn’t leave on the scheduled time so we stayed at Margaritaville, which is just right in front of the port, for a while. The trip was delayed for almost 45 minutes and we didn’t waste that time by tasting different flavors of Margaritaville’s daiquiris. By the way, my favorite is the strawberry one – as always.

The waters of Bahamas is generally crystal blue but as we got closer to the Blue Lagoon, the waters also became clearer. It was a calm and splendid sight for our eyes. I can feel the serenity of the place. Even before we arrived at the actual site, I already knew how it would look like – crystal blue waters, warm sun, cool breeze, and daiquiris everywhere.

… and I was right with what I envisioned.

As soon as we arrived Blue Lagoon, we rented a locker for our stuff and jumped into its cool waters right away. From tanning to riding huge water bicycles, there is a wide variety of activities that you can do there. You can even swim with the dolphins, sting rays and sea lions!

Born and raised in a tropical country, I’ve visited numerous islands and I can say that the Blue Lagoon is one of my favorites! I can’t wait to be back here someday!

  2. I lived there for 4 months, and passed Blue Lagoon a thousand times but never got to visit! Will definitely have to when I go back!
